SquareEnix Play Arts Kai Robocop 1987 Review

Have been waiting for this figure for AGES. I opened it 1 days after the shipment! You can buy it now @ http://www.onii-sama.com/square-enix-play-arts-kai-robocop-1987-pvc-action-figure/
It looks like there is a new joint system in this figure, they are using on the shoulder joints. I will be talking about it on later section of the review. First of all the Box.

The front art of the box is not too bad, It feel classic. They are using the actual figure for the photo shoot. It feel a lot like the old 1987 VHS cover =D.

Both side of the box are the same, nothing special here.

The back of the box is not too bad, not bad poses.

All newer play arts kai are using the window display +  a cover, ,making it kind of like a book, which I really like, The picture is cool inside the box, it looks like it is from the movie, not a figure. They are using the actual figure to shoot the scene, good job!!

That's what it comes with. Also a display stand. All new Play Arts Kai now days include a display stand. It is very durable and nice one. However, DO NOT set the stand to max height if the figure is too heavy. I did that with Street Fighter Akuma posing him using Dragon Punch and the base broke due to the heavy-ness of the figure and gravity.

The extra parts that comes with the figure are not too bad but where the hell is the Jet-Pack!??? This figure is pretty expensive and no Jet-Pack? =_=. I will have to make one for him then! =-= Also it has no and no Helmet less head but I am ok with that, it is creepy anyway lol.

Front View, notice it has some kind of purple shading on some parts to make it looks like real metal. They did a very good job at that! The figure stands at 9.5 inches tall with no much gap between his legs. If you pose him, he is about 9.3 inches tall.

Right view, notice the purple shading on legs and shoulder and little bit on the head.

Right Back view, nice detailed on every part.

Left back view, I was having problem to make the figure stand... The feet joint is that annoying clicking joints again...I wish they add few more "click" on the joint...

Articulation test. Do not do what I do here .... ever! You will see WHY at the bottom picture ...... The Articulation is not bad.

And that is why, DO NOT DO what I did up there..=_=........ I have to fix it with real metal. Plastic is just too cheap and break easily.

You are under arrest! Surrender now or I will be using brute force!!

Well, the gun holster is not a "working one", they are just attachments parts.

You open up the armor plate of his right leg and that's what it looks like in there. There are few holes for the attachments parts.

And then you attach the parts on the holes in there.

The "middle finger" lol. I am so glad they include that in the figure. I remember that part so well form the movie lol.

A close up to the face. It looks pretty good to me!

Close up to the lower body. It looks better in real than in picture. This is just the lighting and angle problem. I only use natural lighting to take photo now days due this is the most natural way to show what the figure looks like. Also notice the TEXT on the leg.

Close up on the text on his helm. " OCP POLICE -001"

This is the new shoulder joint system that I was talking about earlier. It looks..more durable then the last gen ones? I don't know, I am not going to pop the joint out like last time on Tidus review......I still haven't 100% fixed it by the way...

Final Review:
Box Art : Really like the box of Play Arts Kai now day, good job. Very high collectable value! Window display with cover on top like a book and movie/poster style picture inside it. Using the figure to re-act the scenes, I found it very interesting and artistic.
Score : 9/10

Extra Parts included : 4 changeable hands, 1 of them is the "middle finger" antenna form the movie =D. 1 Hand gun and the gun holster parts. But NO JET-Pack =_=.....O and no Helmet less head.
Score : 7.5 /10

Figure QC : The QC of the newer Play Arts Kai had improved a lot. But there are still some design problem. Such as the leg I broke up there..=_=...
Score : 8/ 10

Articulation : Pretty damn good, but! I am afraid to do some crazy pose due to past experiences. The new shoulder joints seems to be able to pose better and looks more durable but! I am not to going risk breaking it!
Score : 8 /10

Figure Design : He looks more thin than from the movie but I am ok with that! He looks less bulky than the movie. The joints are well hidden, I don't mind their joints at all. The figure is very high in details!
 Score : 9 /10

Price : Price is pretty damn expensive, $89.99+. I really feel this figure only wroth $69.99 to me. IF they include a Jet-pack and a helmet-less head! then $89.99 is worth it. But right now, it is not!!!
Score : 7 / 10

Overall : This figure is well made, high in detail and articulation is pretty good. BUT! the gun holster is not a working one, also, the design of the leg "Hydraulic System" is not so well thought out. They really should use Real metal for that part. Seriously, they are charging $89.99, wtf. They should use some better and durable materials!
Score : 8 / 10
