Square Enix Play Arts Kai Metal Gear Solid 2 Raiden Action Figure Full review!

This review is wants you to buy from

www.onii-sama.com

This review had been delay for almost a month due to my internet service died for over 2 weeks!! Bell is the worst internet company ever!! Anyways, here is the full review of Raiden.

The price of the item is increased to $79.99 from last generation of the $69.99 range. Play Arts figures are getting more and more expensive, but getting better and better.

This is the packaging. Pretty nice and pretty much same size as the last generation ones.

This is what the box included. Main Raiden Figure, spare head with Mask (don't remember that head? it is from the beginning of MGS 2, where he come up from underwater), 3 spare hands, 1 Katanna, 1 hand gun and 1 display stand.

Raiden holding his Katana with both hands.

A working holster, but it is VERY hard to close that belt, I never bother closing it, too much work!

The back of Raiden, I posted him weird. sorry lol.

A close up on Raiden's face.

The figure is super high in detail, even the text are painted on his outfit. You can't really see them with your eyes, well I can't. I zoom my camera in so you guys can see them clearly.

Raiden's Dog Tag, it is an actual working one, it is made out of metal.

Raiden holding his hand gun.

The gap on the neck is pretty big, but! if you don't post him on the side and look right up close then it doesn't really matter lol.

This is the shoulder joint, same as the old design, but it is more durable and not easy to break. Just DON'T be rough with it lol.

This is what happen when I was rough on the leg joint.... the left hip joint broke out, scared the shit out of me when it happened, but! it did not break...lucky....

This is the best your can do on the hips / leg, just don't over do it.

The Head Joint is a very simple double ball joints design. You can just pop it out pretty easily, just don't it too much tho, even it is made out of soft plastic, it will still break if you pull it too much.
The other head is pretty hard to put in, because the "hole" is never been "insert" lol....so...yea...

Here is a comparison with Cyborg Ninja Raiden. They are the same scale, but this Raiden is a little bit shorter, but it make sense.

Box Art : Ok, pretty good clean and simple design. Nothing special.
Score : 8 / 10

Extra Parts included : not too much, more is better, but came with iconic things and an display stand. The extra head is good.
Score : 7 /10

Figure QC : opened few boxes and review from buyers, no problem so far but! You can not be rough on the joints, they WILL break. The paint job is pretty good. Joint design and hidden pretty well, except for the neck joint.
Score : 7 / 10

Articulation : Pretty good, but you can not be rough on it, they will break! A lot of people complain about the look of joints but, you can either have visible joints or look prettier "hidden" joints, you can't really have both and I think they did a pretty good job on keep in mind to make the joints not so visible.
Score : 7.5 /10

Figure Design : I love it, but the face has little bit too much shading, but is not too bad. I guess they base on the design of the sketching instead of the game design.
Score : 8.5 /10

Price : I think the price of $79.99 is fucking expensive and it piss me off that Square Enix keep increase their price. If the figure is at a $65 - 69.99 range, It will be acceptable. The next line of MGS is at a $99.99 range, God damnit.
Score : 6 / 10

Overall : Overall this figure is pretty freaking good, scales are same as the overall MGS lines, at around 1/8 scale, matching all of my 1/8 scale collection, which is perfect in my mind, not too big and not too small. No much screw up in the overall line. My only complain is that the lower hip legs articulation is little bit too limited, it scare the shit out of me when the leg came out when I try to be rough.
Score : 7.5 / 10
